Whitehaven beach

Pictures can only show so much about a place, and as beautiful as the photos we have are, they really can't do justice to actually being there. When we got there they said we should go up to the lookout first to get some pictures. I think if we hadn't done that first we would have forgotten about it as we strolled on the unbelievably fine sand.

I am glad we did though, because the view was nothing short of spectacular. On the way to the lookout the path opens up an you get your first look of the beach. It was really funny to watch peoples reactions as the beach came into view.

I saw many people do this and everyone of them made some sort of noise reflecting their astonishment. A lot of them words of disbelief, while others were just gasps.

I will also post more pictures of the beach.

The sand on the beach itself is something that I didn't think existed. It is so incredibly fine that when I was looking at some grains on my fingertips i noticed that one grain of sand fit into the crevices of my fingerprint with ease. The feeling of the sand on your feet is amazing as well.

Apparently (and I say apparently because it wad just our captain who told us this and I haven't verified it yet) no one is allowed to take sand from the beach and the only people to ever to be allowed were NASA, who took 1 tonne in order to use it to make the lens for the Hubble space telescope.
