We got ourselves a convoy

GeoTagged, [S25.29458, W152.85567]
So picture this we're driving through hervey bay when we come across 150 and counting transports honking their way down the main road. It turns out that it's called 'convoy for kids' we're not to sure what they are raising money for specifically but it's pretty impressive. We also noticed a lot of people standing outside which was a little out of place at 10am. We'll have to do a little more research on the whole thing to try and find out more. Jesse just informed me that all the trucks are going to the park to do burn-outs.

Last night we stayed in hervey bay it was a really cool hostel that had a restaurant teand bar in the main area. You could just hang out on the couches or you could eat or get some drinks. They had a happyiest hour (not happy hour) where there were $7 pitchers.
We tented it at this hostel which wad great, we still got to use all of the facilities, but it only cost us $9 a person. I'm glad it's warm enough to tent now, we can save some money over the rest of hour trip.
Plan to tent it somewhere again tonight, don't know where yet though.

Lunch in Gympie
GeoTagged, [S26.23201, W152.69736]
Last nights leftovers for a quick lunch as we try to make it further north. We're on a deadline now, about 12 more hours of driving over today and the next two days left so that we make it to the Whitsundays in time for our sailing trip.

We walked down the beach this morning before heading north to go camping. The weathers warm enough to wear shorts, even if it doesn't look like it in the picture.

Lighthouse lookout
GeoTagged, [S28.63611, W153.63773]
This is the view from a lighthouse in Byron bay. The path in the picture is the Captain Cook lookout. It was very windy. The weather is starting to get warmer and warmer and we continue to head further north.
Next stop surfers paradise, don't know if it will quite be warm enough to try a surf ourselves, but I hear it's a nice party town.

End of the week recap
Well it's the end of the week, not a full week of travel, only the 6th night of travel, but a good time for a recap nonetheless.
First night, Phillip island, saw the penguins and koalas. Second night half way to Sydney in a small little town. Saw some kangaroos there. 3 nights in Sydney, those went by fast, there is tons to do in Sydney, and we did as muchas we could without spending too much money. It was an expensive 3 days regardless. Now we're in port stephens and will be keeping our eyes peeled for some mammals of the sea and some dolphins too.
It's still not that warm, haven't made
It far enough north yet. You can walk around in a tshirt, but it would be really cold if you got in the water.
The hulk (our car) seems to be doing ok and maybe he'll make the whole journey to cairns. Hopefully he does, well I'll keep posting, but I think Amy needs some incentive to post more.
We're at this really cool hostel right now which you can see in the previous post, well you can see part of it. It's interesting enough to deserve it's own post and since we have two nights here, I'll leave that till a later date.

That's a picture of the outdoor kitchen. I thinkni would love it in the summer, but it was a little chili while cooking up burgers for supper.
